Hushling is an app for parents to record their child's early years. This page explains what it stores, why, who else can see it, and how to get rid of it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

Hushling does not collect location, contacts, your address book, or browsing history. Hushling does use one analytics service, Mixpanel, to understand which features are used — what reaches it is described in the table below, and it never includes your child's name or the content of any record you keep.
Hushling also measures which advertisements led to someone installing the app, using Meta's app-events SDK. On iOS this only happens if you allow tracking when the app asks — you can change that answer at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. What Meta learns is limited to three facts — that the app was installed, that an account was created, and that a first record was saved (the bare fact, never what the record was) — plus, only if you allowed tracking, an advertising identifier used to match that install to an ad. Your child's records, growth data, photos and names stay in Hushling and are never shared with Meta. Subscription and purchase events are reported separately, through RevenueCat.
Data about a child
Almost everything in Hushling is information about a child, entered by an adult. The account belongs to you, the parent or carer: your child is not a user of the app and cannot sign in. You decide what to enter, you can correct or remove any of it at any time, and it is deleted with your account.
Hushling is not directed at children and must not be used by anyone under 18.
Who else processes it
Hushling sells nothing to anyone, and does not share your data with advertisers so they can target you elsewhere. A small number of service providers process data strictly on Hushling's instructions, because the app cannot work without them, or — in Meta's case, below — to measure whether an ad led to an install:

About the AI features. They are entirely optional and nothing is sent anywhere until you choose one and pick a photo. When you do, that photo is transmitted to OpenAI to produce the result. If you would rather no photo of your child ever leave Hushling's own servers, simply do not use these three features — every other part of the app works without them.
Where it is stored
Hushling's servers are in the United States. If you use the app from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, your data is transferred there and is protected by the Standard Contractual Clauses agreed with the providers above.
How long it is kept
Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. Delete your account and everything tied to you — children, every logged event, your device tokens, purchase records, your reactions, saved posts and follows — is removed from the live database immediately. Encrypted backups roll off within 30 days.
Two things outlive the account, without your name attached to them: community posts and comments, and photos and comments you added to a family album. Other people replied to those posts, and other members of your family share that album — deleting your side of a conversation would delete theirs too. They stay, with your name and every link to your account removed, so nobody can tell they were yours.
If something you wrote or a photo you added identifies you and you want it gone as well, write to support@hushling.app and it will be removed.
Delete your account from Settings → Account in the app, or by writing to support@hushling.app.
Your rights
You can ask to see a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or object to how it is used. Most of this you can do yourself in the app; for anything else write to support@hushling.app and you will get an answer within 30 days. If you are in the EEA or UK and are not satisfied, you may complain to your national data protection authority.
Security
Traffic between the app and the servers is encrypted with TLS. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. Access to the servers is restricted to the operator. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever affects your data you will be told without undue delay.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and you will be notified in the app before the new version takes effect.
